My Story

I was born in Badalona in 1967. When I was 9 years old, my family and I moved to Barcelona. I spent my childhood in Sant Antoni and studied at the Escolapios in the neighborhood. I have also lived in Barceloneta and on Comte de Borrell and València streets in l'Esquerra de l'Eixample. And if there's one thing I'm certain of, it's that I wouldn't trade Barcelona for anything.

I studied law at the University of Barcelona and paid for my studies by making belts. A culture of hard work that is the best legacy my father, a city policeman, and my mother, a seamstress, passed on to me.

I have worked as a lawyer and have managed a communications agency, another one of my passions.

I was fortunate to serve as a councilor for my city between 1996 and 1999. I was also a member of the Parliament until 2010 and president of the Popular Party of Catalonia between 2007 and 2008. In 2023, I returned to municipal politics to present my candidacy for the mayoralty of Barcelona.

Although the political landscape was complicated, we were able (thanks to the support of many people who believed that a new discourse was necessary for the City) to double our results and become decisive in determining the city's mayor. We were clear about it. Our vote was not going to make either a separatist or Ada Colau the mayor, and that's how it happened. We freed Barcelona from separatism and populism.

Now my goal is to govern the city. To ensure that security is no longer the primary concern for the people of Barcelona and that we can walk through our city without fear. To make Barcelona a competitive city, a city of opportunities where talent wants to settle and where young people don't have to leave because they can't afford housing. A Barcelona for the people where we can all be proud to live.
